If you’re used to hav­ing your Ubuntu menu but­tons to the right, then this sim­ple tuto­r­ial will show you how to restore the but­tons back to the orig­i­nal loca­tion – Top Right. If you’re fine with the menu but­tons on the top left cor­ner, then this tuto­r­ial is not for you.


Get­ting started:


To get started, press Alt-F2 on your key­board and type the com­mands below and click Run:




gconf-editor

ubuntu_button_1



Expand the fol­low­ing folders:



Apps --> metacity --> general
ubuntu_button_2


Right-click button_layout and select Edit Key


lucid_update_11


Change the order of the val­ues to and click OK



menu:minimize,maximize,close
lucid_update_12


Click OK and the change should hap­pen instantly.
